Hala is proud of the rich diversity across our 130 FTEs, starting with our leadership team. Women comprise half our leadership team; 1⁄3 of our Executives and 1⁄3 of our broader leadership team self-identify as BIPOC; 1/4 of our leaders are veterans, and 1⁄3 of our leaders hail from conflict-affected communities.
Our 3 country programs are led/co-led by Syrian, Yemeni, and Ukrainian women. DEI is integrated into our DNA, from governance and recruiting to product design and program implementation.
The departure point for our strategy and solution design is our mission: to radically increase resilience for billions of people to forces outside of their control.
We particularly emphasize serving women and girls, as they are disproportionately affected by conflict. In 2022, for example, our Sentry public education campaign directly reached 72,000 individuals, 70% of whom were women. Correlatively, women comprise nearly 70% of the Community Outreach Officers (specialized White Helmets staff) whom we train to conduct such campaigns.
